The specialty division Sport Equipment and Materials (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Veit Senner) is a new member of our faculty. In 2002 it has been initially established at the Faculty of Sports Science. August 2009 it was transferred to Mechanical Engineering where it became an associated division at the Institute of Ergonomics (Professor Bengler). As its research and teaching is clearly positioned between engineering science and sports science it was consequent to express this interdisciplinary by maintaining a co-membership in the former Faculty of Sports Science.

Currently there are 5 internal staff members and 5 external in two spin-off companies working for the division's benefit.
